Things I DON'T see at the altar....

Hey, does anyone know if a guy can still buy a copy of the St. Joseph's First Communion Baltimore Catechism that has not been defaced? If so, where?

I've been meaning to ask for a while, and now that I've figured out a work-around for my photos....

  1. Will most sellers know to differentiate them, though? I'd bet not.

Also my thought is that I could find a current printing--not a collectible but a cheap one that my kids could really use, and if they leave it within reach of the baby and the baby eats it, it's not the end of the world.

  2. Well, you can always ask the seller or you might try Abe Books or Alibris on line. See, I do more than start fights on the internet, I shop. You could go to the saintly woman who teaches the children's catechism in your parish on Sunday mornings. I warn you this would require face to face interaction.

  3. When all else fails, have Michael at Lumena Books track it down for you, I guess (2201 West 25th Street Suite G, Lawrence, KS 66047

And yes, that was a free advertisement. Except when I'm in a pinch for time and can't get to Lawrence (in which case I resort to I. Donnelly), I get all my stuff from him.

  4. Hey Curmudgeon: don't use Ebay. Lifetime ban on them for attempting to sell the Sacred Species (a Consecrated Host) online--they only pulled it off after much outrage.

I made a vow to never, ever, ever, ever, EVER buy anything for Ebay for the rest of my natural life. Hope you do the same.

  5. You can find just about anything at ABE Books, as long as it's a book, of course. They can be trusted, too.

  6. I.Donnelly has the current reprint. I have ordered it from them in the last couple of years.

  7. Thanks, Anon. The image you see here is from a current reprint that was purchased at I. Donnelly. They're no help.
