Olmstead still at work...

Bishop Olmstead continues to clean up the diocese, as we can see by this disaffected priest who's seeing the cozy, nonjudgmental ecclesiatical realm established by former Bishop Thomas O'Brien being disturbed by inconvenient and unfashionable Catholic moral teaching. Witness this article by Janet Napolitano's pro-death rag, the Arizona Republic:

Priest says bishop spurns gays

The Arizona Republic May. 3, 2006 12:00 AM
A Catholic priest who took a leave of absence in January, citing health-related and "other" easons, says in a letter to newspapers that Bishop Thomas Olmsted has turned his back on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered Catholics."I refuse to serve as a priest in a church environment that is increasingly sending a false and destructive message that my LGBT brothers and sisters and I are little more than immature, defective sex addicts," said the Rev. Chris Carpenter, former pastor of Christ the King parish in Mesa.

Perhaps Fr. Carpenter is playing this wrong? He could have simply kept his mouth shut and moved to LA, seeking to reincardinate in the Diocese of Orange or LA, where he's highly unlikely to be troubled by such things. But no, I suppose he wants to make himself a martyr for the pro-death, pro-buggery cause.

  2. Yeah, Chris Carpenter has been griping in the papers for some time. We covered him at LifeSite once but then decided he didint' need any more publicity.

  3. I am also waiting for your response to Bp. Tissier's interview. Will you be canceling your subscription to the Remnant as well?

  4. Stephen, apologies; that came through at a busy time for family and paying work and I haven't been able to it or anything else of substance justice; you can tell I've degenerated to off-hand, less-than-thoughtful posts and the recycling of old material of late. I will get to it as I can.

I dunno about my Remnant subscription. Nothing in it makes me frightfully angry, like the Wanderer does. I suppose it's because I would expect more from the Wanderer. But I haven't spent much time in the last few issues of the Remnant. If I let my Remnant subscription expire, it's for different reasons.

  5. Bp. Tissier de Mallerais' interview is a little disturbing, I admit, but it's not a basis to cancel my Remnant subscription. It's not like they ran an article with Stephen quoting leftist dissidents and heretics in order to paint the official church in a bad light, which would be the converse of what the Wanderer does.

  6. Just tweaking you with the Remnant comment. Glad that you agree that Bp. Tissier's interview is disturbing regardless of who did the reporting on it. I must admit that I am becoming discouraged about the prospects of a reconciliation.

Not that any of this has anything to do with Bishop Olmstead and the fine labor he is performing in the Valley of the Sun.
