Corresponding with the clergy abuse plaintiff's bar

I propose that we start a list of contact information for the attorneys representing plaintiffs in the clergy sex abuse scandal, both within our own dioceses and within the other dioceses where things are really bad, i.e., Boston, Spokane, Portland, etc.

Once we get a good list, we can start by making sure we (and the companies, friends and relatives we have influence over) aren't doing business with them. Then we can continue by letting those lawyers know how we feel about them. They're trying to steal from us as Catholics. It may have a gloss of civil legality, but morally, it's barely distinquishable from them walking out with one of the Sunday collection baskets. Don't kid yourself, little Timmy . . . . those lawyers aren't out to break the priests who are buggerin' teenage boys, nor the bishops who wink at them (if they were, I'd be cheering them on). They're after the donations given by you and me, and they're after the patrimony of the Church which the bishop and his pastors hold in trust for US, if not for Our Lord. In cases like Spokane and Boston, where churches and schools are in danger of being sold off . . . or are actually being sold off . . . to pay their judgments and their fees, it's also the patrimony of our parents and grandparents , who gave in trust to their parishes to build churches for the benefit of the parishioners, who are being robbed.

These lawyers may tell the media, and perhaps even tell themselves, that they're seeking justice and vindication. Bullshit. If that were the case, they'd be suing and harrassing the Bernard Laws and the individual pederasts personally. They're after money. Not Bernard Law's, nor Roger Mahoney's, nor William Skylstad's savings accounts, either. They're after money given by YOU and YOUR ANCESTORS for the honor and glory of God.

Who are they? Let's start locally, in Kansas City . . . where local attorney Becky Randles has been quoted as saying this (conveniently omitting that she probably takes a large portion (maybe 20-40%) of the proceeds of her clients' "recovery" in contingency fees):
My clients generally consider filing suit an integral part of their recovery process," says Becky Randall [sic], a Kansas City attorney who primarily handles abuse cases. "Part of getting better, I've seen, is taking real steps to expose the perpetrator and try to bring him to justice."

After you've finished puking, and you drink a 7-up or something to get the bile taste out of your mouth, if you live in Kansas City, you should contact Becky Randles at the following address:

Rebecca M. Randles
Randles Mata & Brown LLC
406 W. 34th St., Ste. 623
Kansas City, Missouri

Let her know that YOU know she's trying to steal from you and from the bride of Christ!

I'll try to post some of the lawyers from the Diocese of Spokane case this weekend, as they're the ones in the news lately. For anybody that's shocked that I would propose such a thing, don't bother commenting that confronting the lawyers who are doing this to us is somehow wrong or un-Christian. In confronting her, you're standing up for your faith, and with respect to the lawyers themselves, you're doing them an act of charity. Yes, we have a duty in charity to correct people when they're doing wrong and to draw their attention to the truth. And clearly, the lawyers who are dipping into diocesan coffers are doing wrong. It's time some people let them know it!

  1. Maybe if you were anally raped or forced to sodomize a priest/brother when you were little you would see this a little differently. It's about getting justice against the BISHOPs who decided that sexual abuse against KIDS was alright. Do you honestly believe that? If you do, you are hardly a Catholic

  2. I was one of those little boys who a priest then ordained a Bishop took advantage of me.
Not only was I sexually abused but mentally abused as well... Being told "If I tell anyone about what happened that I would go to HELL" well that sticks with a kid and that boy thinks his life is then worthless and does everything to try and escape what really happened.
I don't think all 63 cases against the priests are made up and it is a sin that these men of GOD wont spend a day in prison for the acts against the innocent.
    THINK ABOUT IT !

  3. These Men are not above the Law! I would like to see them in Prison with everyone else that abuses a child. In this Country they profess to not have any money and be poor and lowly yet they have in house maids-sisters that do all of the work.
Idiots who think it is about the money are just that.. IDIOTS!
My Father is a Catholic Priest who my Mother went to for Marriage Counseling . He wanted a child and abused his Power and now here I am. I am still trying to get Family information. The church will not help me! I have an attorney. I want them to stop forgiving peoples sins and acting like they have powers-mediation of forgiveness. They should go to a worse place than prison. They are taking money from idiots like you while they are having sex with little boys and making babies!!!!.

  4. As I said, crooks and scoundrels. I'm sorry that you anons are bereft of reason, but it doesn't give you the right to take MY patrimony because I DIDN'T SODOMIZE ANYBODY and I DIDN'T HAVE ANY AUTHORITY OVER ANYONE WHO DID.

Should you be able to sue the local school district and take all the district's property when you daughter's shagged by the volleyball coach? NO! Why not...because the property is held for the benefit of the public at large, not to the wrongdoers. This is no different (except that this problem occurs a lot less frequently in Catholic churches than in public schools). The property that wretched scoundrels like Rebecca Randals is after is held for the benefit of the Church at large, not the wrongdoers.

  6. Curmudgeon, I have a few things I want to share with you. Answer one thing for me, what price would you put on your FAITH. I myself being a victim who struggled without faith because a pedophile alcoholic pervert, (an evil man in a lambs shroud, covered from exposure from the hierachy of the Church, took my faith because of his sick sexual urges for little boys), stole my innocents and left me with shame, pain, and depression for the 30 years since. I have been told by a Catholic priest, a retired Babtist minister and other ministers I have every right to seek restitution as others have recieved. It will not take away any of the pain THE CHURCH allowed to happen because of thier mishandling of pedophiles in priest robes. In the past the years the Church has agknowledged their guilt in allowing and mishandling of this issue. I may have been on the road to be a priest until I became a victim of one. You have no idea how it feels to be one of us. Your put downs of victims looking for some normalcy in thier lives makes me sick. Where is your compassion for your fellow man. I question your motives, I would also like to give you dose of humbleness. You don't know have any idea of what we have been through. I know the contribution of my family to the church was quite a large sum. I wonder if they would of contributed anything had they known of the cover up and my victimization. The church knew the "allogations of victims" weren't baseless, and as matter of fact contributed to the numbers of victims. They have admitted to mishandling of this issue. I'd like to take out an once of my pain on you and your attitude. You didn't suffer a loss of faith, childhood innocense, and life long pain. DO not bare false witness. SCREW YOU ASSHOLE!

  8. Leave message with Rebecca Randle. Calling her out and making her a target is unfair. Your as bad as the perverts who put us through hell on earth. If the perverts did not become clergy. Families would not be without out sons, uncles, cousins, fathers, brothers because the pain is so overwhelming it leads them to isolation, drugs, alcohol, an early death, and/or suicide. You are a coward and have no clue of the effects done by this. Come out of the closet I am sure I not the only one who resents your accusations. Rebecca has made it impossible for this to ever occur in the scope and manner it has. She is a compassionate caring nuturing individual, who deserves praise for making the world a safer place. I will see her in heaven or you in hell. My bet is I'll be seeing Rebecca. Previous blogger!

  9. Curmudgeon,
the fact that you hide your true identity but publicize the names and contacts for social injustice lawyers only serves to emphasize your own hypocrisy.

If more, no make that "any", bishops were held accountable for sexual and other misbehavior by their ordained and subservient ministers on their turf and during their shift, there would be fewer pedophile priests who only do their vitriolic deeds because they can get away with it, like the priest who was sent west and traveled "with his girlfriend" to serve another diocese.

It has been too long that 12th Century fiefdom hierarchy has been the law. If Christians are truly faithful, let them formally critique a bishop's performance every two or three years.

He who looks away when an injustice is done is more guilty of the injustice than the perpetrator.
